This course is the third of a three-part series designed to establish a fundamental understanding of Natural and Man-Made (Human induced/caused) disasters, as well as your understanding of commonly used terminology used in emergency response efforts.

In Level I we looked at Natural disasters where they routinely happen, how they cause injury, and what you can do to avoid or minimize that harm.  In Level II we received a short introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction, Terrorism and the likely weapons that will be used in a future attack.

Now that you have advanced to the Level III course we will combine some elements of I & II and progress into larger scale response coordination as an emergency responder and bring you into coordinated action with local, state, federal and even multi-jurisdictional response efforts. You will become familiar with the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the National Response Framework (NRF), and the manner in which all events are controlled using the Incident Command System (ICS) established by the Fire Service and now standard practice for emergency services to provide structure for a uniform response effort across any type of event.
